Join us for a hands-on Kiln Repair Intensive focused on restoring the catenary arch of Tuscarora Pottery School’s soda kiln. This workshop offers participants an opportunity to gain practical insight into kiln construction, maintenance, and long-term care while working directly on a high-fire soda kiln.
Over five days, participants will assist with arch teardown, brick assessment, reframing, and rebuild, learning best practices for refractory layout, mortar use, and structural integrity. Alongside the repair work, attendees will have full access to TPS studio spaces to throw, hand build, and prepare work while engaging in daily discussions on kiln design and atmospheric firing.
Tuition includes a private room in the Tuscarora Pottery School Hotel and access to all studios, tools, and amenities throughout the intensive. Participants are required to bring enough food rations to feed themselves over the course of their stay.
